Jewelry Care

Storage & Cleaning

Metals maintain their original integrity when they are kept away from moisture. In order to preserve the metals and keep the jewelry bright and shiny, avoid wearing jewelry in the shower and remove the pieces prior to any extensive exercise.

When you are done wearing jewelry, gently wipe each piece of jewelry clean of dust and skin oils with a 100% cotton cloth. You should keep your accessories in a jewelry box or a closed drawer to protect pieces from sunlight and moisture. It is best to keep jewelry separately so that tit does not scratch other jewelry.

Silver jewelry may be kept in small plastic bags to prevent the piece from tarnishing. You may salvage tarnished silver by buffing out blemishes with a 100% cotton cloth or jewelry polishing clothes.  To remove excessive tarnish, polish with a polishing clothes and a good nonabrasive metal cleaner.   Be sure that any stones in the jewelry can withstand the chemicals in the cleaner. Read the label, and if in doubt, do not use a chemical cleaner. Some gemstones that cannot be placed in most commercial jewelry cleaners are: pearls, lapis lazuli, malachite, opals, coral,  turquoise, etc.
